My boatbuilding
Boatbuilding is one of my current interests. I've just finished building Truant, a small sailing dinghy design by John Welsford. John has a large following of small boat builders keen to build and sail his traditional styled boats, using modern materials and construction methods.

Tramping & Cycling
Information about my tramps, bike rides and stuff I have found about lightweight camping/tramping/cycle touring over the years

My current favourite pack is from Cactus Climbing, day packs too - all NZ made.; I have one of their 'Deep Winter's and an old (smaller) and current 'Henry' daypacks. All three are lightweight and very tough.

Charity Support
I support a number of charities the most significant of which are Mathatma Karunai Illam which was started by a friend of mine, and the Mary Potter Hospice in Wellington. I have visited both these and been impressed by the quality of work and the dedication of the workers involved there
Other stuff
Security
The working part of my life at present is engaged in helping organisations protect their assets from the variety of mean and nasty types out here in cyberspace.
That involves secure infrastructure design, audit and policy development work plus general security advice when asked for it - and sometimes when not.

I have finally managed to figure out the vagaries of mysql, wordpress, phpmyadmin and a few tangles with multi-ssl hosting on a single address to get to here. Let's see where I go with it.
