And I am finding out that the cheap battery I bought off Trademe for my u770 doesn't have a good charge capacity. A couple of days ago I took my camera out for a walk and found the battery was flat even though I have hardly used it since I last charged it. Back to the original Olympus one and more care to ensure that it is topped up regularly.

Well I succumbed and bought an Olympus mU770 digital camera with 2G XD card at the duty free shop at Melbourne airport. Now I won't worry so much about whether the camera gets a dunking when I'm sailing - although it won't float so till needs some care. It will take me a little while to get my head around its menus but it looks good so far. I was very tempted to get an Olympus digital SLR and an adapter for all my OM lenses but the waterproofness won out in the end.

I've got a pile of Olympus OM camera gear that I have accumulated over the last 20 or so years. Starting with my first OM-1 in about 1976 I have now got several OM-2SP, an OM-10 and 2 OM1s. I have some favourite lenses including a 21mm that I love, and the 50mm macro lens. There are several longer lenses out to the 300mm including a 75-150mm zoom. None of my OM lenses are the very fast ones. A couple of T-20s and a T-32 flash fill in when necessary.

I first saw a photographer using an Olympus Pen-FT at Scott Base, Antarctica in 1969 and finally bought one for myself about 4 years ago. Since then I have found another one and have several bodies for spares. I have also managed to get a few lenses including the fast 60mm f1.5 portrait lens and the 40mm f1.2 standard lens.

I have a couple of Olympus mU point & shoots and a couple of years ago I bought an Olympus mU410 digital which I have used quite a but but it doesn't have the same feel as the film cameras.

There is a (kitset) Bender 4x5 camera on the shelf that I bought a Linhof 90mm lens for that I hope to get mounted onto a tripod in the future to play with some landscape work.

and photography links. I have wanted Olympus SLR cameras since I saw a Pen-FT in use in Antarctica in 1969. My first one was an OM-1 in 1976 and I have accumulated several OM-1s (including a couple for parts), several good Pen-FTs (including a couple for parts too) plus an OM2-SP, an OM-10, a Mu2, a Mu2-115 zoom, a Mu-410 digital, a bunch of OM lenses from 21mm to 300mm and a few Pen lenses (including the nice 42mm f1.2 and the 60mm f1.5.
