Yep - she will look great with those sails up cruising through the Sounds. I'll post some photos when I get things tidied up a bit. There were some on Trademe but the listing has expired.

I'm deciding whether to strip the exterior of the hull back to clean wood before refinishing. It'll be a messy job but worth doing to be sure everything isup to the same standard.

Hi Richard - She is a beauty - solid kauri carvel planked. Most sails and the rigging are virtually new.

There is a little work to do first. Mainly the motor is dodgy and I may need to replace it but at least I think a proper overhaul will be needed. Also I want to redo a good bit if not all the wiring.

Apart from that some new anti-fouling and minor repairs shouldn't take too long.

    Hi Jim,

You can use Rythmbox on the latest Ubuntu release to add mp3 to the iphone. You first need to initialise the database via itunes I think. If you copy a music CD to the iphone via itunes that should do it.

Ryhtmbox is a much easier way to manage your music. iTunes sucks.

You can also load iTunes through Virtualbox/Windows. I have this working with the no oss version of Virtualbox.

I am not sure if I would by another iphone. Have been looking at the android options lately but a but pricey at the moment.

Turn of 3G and your battery will last a few days.

Hi Jim

I haven't made any progress. The last few months I have been rather distracted from many things by my father's illness and finally death last month. I hope to get back to it in the near future.

The Seagull plans include the 'Mollyhawk' extension to just over 17 feet long, and also a sliding seat design.

I think that Seagull/Mollyhawk is much simpler to build than Joansa since it is a basic stitch&glue with a bottom and two sides. Much faster to cut out and put together than the planks of Joansa. The interior looks similar though.

Joansa looks more traditional and you could email John to query relative seaworthyiness.

I was wondering about any progress on your Seagull and any pics or videos on it? How loght can a seagull be made? Building skills needed compared to a Joansa, which is what I would really rather have.

As one of Charlie's neighbours (23 Trentham Rd) for the time he's been building his boat we were so sorry to hear that he hadn't made the sail. The weather here has been so awful it's no wonder, but also quite atypical for this time of the year. We hope Charlie won't be discouraged and can "get back on the horse".

Best wishes.
